If you’re in Glasgow (Scotland) and the weather’s doing its usual Scottish summer thing (read: rain for days), Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is the perfect place to spend an afternoon—or several.
We ducked in to escape a downpour and ended up staying far longer than planned. With over 8,000 objects on display, it’s easy to get lost in everything from ancient history and Scottish design to natural wonders and world-famous art. The jaw-dropping centerpiece? A WWII Spitfire hanging mid-air above the main hall. And then there’s Christ of Saint John of the Cross by Salvador Dalí—easily one of the most moving works we’ve ever seen.
Whether you’re sheltering from the rain or just looking to slow down and soak up some culture, Kelvingrove is an absolute must.
